Ninety Years of CBRN Service

Today, the Serbian Armed Forces celebrated with a series of events the Day of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear service and 90 years since the formation of the first unit of chemical protection in our army.

On this occasion, a military ceremony was held at the "Car Lazar" barracks in Kruševac where the results of the work of the 246th battalion of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Defense (CBRN) and the CBRN Center in the previous year were summarized and the most outstanding individuals were presented with awards and commendations.

The celebration of the holiday was an opportunity to look back on 90 years long history of the CBRN service and to once again emphasize the high level of competence of soldiers and commanding officers, proven in numerous training activities and during implementation of a wide range of tasks providing assistance to citizens of Republic of Serbia.

As part of the holiday celebration, tonight, with the presence of numerous dignitaries, a formal academy held at the Kruševac theater where Deputy Chief of the SAF General Staff Lt. Col Petar Cvetković presented the Golden plaques of the Serbian Armed Forces to the 246th CBRN battalion and CBRN Center.

The Day of the CBRN Service of the Serbian Armed Forces is celebrated on the 28th September in commemoration of the day when, in 1932, the formation of the first regular unit of chemical protection  — a gunpowder battalion within the Institute "Obilićevo" in Kruševac started.
