Specialist Training for Army Soldiers
Tuesday, 4.8.2026 | Training
Soldiers who began their military service in June this year are currently undergoing specialist training for duties within the branches and services for which they were recruited.
This training phase comes after six weeks of basic training and is conducted—based on the soldiers’ military occupational specialties—either at specialist training centers or within Serbian Armed Forces units.
Soldiers from the infantry, artillery, armored, and engineer branches undergo training at the Army Training Center in Požarevac. At training grounds near Požarevac and in specialized study rooms at the “General Pavle Jurišić Šturm” barracks, they train with infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, and artillery systems, and how to use mines, explosives, and fire support assets.
Afterwards, they are to conduct a stationary camp, where—through the execution of exercises and live firing—they will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in battlefield tactics while utilizing the weaponry and equipment specific to their branch.
Specialist training for this intake of soldiers concludes in late August with an assessment of their proficiency in performing individual tasks; this is followed by collective training and active integration into the daily routine of Serbian Armed Forces units for the remainder of their military service.
In addition to individual specialist training for soldiers performing voluntary military service, the Army Training Center conducts training for cadets and reserve personnel who have not previously performed military service with weapons, as well as advanced training for all categories of active-duty and reserve personnel across more than 50 specialties—including infantry, artillery, armored units, and engineering—making it a vital component of the Serbian Armed Forces’ training system.
