Training of Combat Crews of Modern Gun-Howitzers

Members of the Mixed Artillery Brigade are being subjected to intensive training with self-propelled gun-howitzers 155 mm B-52 M-15 “Nora” at the locations where the Brigade is deployed and training grounds in the vicinity of Niš, practicing taking up elements of the combat disposition and gun emplacement.

This is the way for the crew members of this powerful artillery assets to practice the tactics and procedures needed to reach the required competence in carrying out specific tasks, which helps build and maintain a high level of skills in providing artillery support to the evolution units of the Serbian Armed Forces on operation.

The platoon commander in the self-propelled gun-howitzer artillery battery, Second Lieutenant Maja Stojiljković, has explained that the 155 mm howitzer B-52 M-15 “Nora” is one of the most modern artillery systems designed to provide fire support. Its biggest advantage compared to the towed version of the 152 mm M-84 howitzer is, as she points out, that it has high mobility, exceptional accuracy and huge firepower.

— Its faster operation is also worth mentioning, not only in terms of transition from the marching position to the combat-ready position, but also when taking up the firing elements and firing missiles. The main goal of this training is to train the personnel to work faster and more efficiently, and that’s why we put it in the foreground, because theory without practice means nothing and vice versa. Training with these systems is not only technical, in terms of knowing the asset, but it is also tactical, because the tactics are very important for the very execution and success of the operation – 2LT Stojiljković emphasized.

A squad commander in one of the batteries, Sergeant 1st Class Nikola Živanović, has stated that it is an extremely powerful asset, one of the most modern artillery assets in the world, which makes all artillerymen proud of it, adding that it is an honor and a privilege to be part of the Mixed Artillery Brigade.

The crewmember of the gun howitzer “Nora”, Private 1st Class Filip Stanković, has pointed out that the scope of his work is to service the howitzer, fill it with artillery ammunition, and also transfer it from the marching position to the combat-ready position and prepare the asset for firing.

— The self-propelled howitzer 155 mm B-52 M-15 “Nora” is equipped with 155 mm and 20 mm guns and a 12.7 mm machine gun — concluded Pte Stanković and invited all young men and women up to age 30 to come to the Mixed Artillery Brigade, become real artillerymen and join the ranks of the chosen ones.
