Training with Self-Propelled Artillery Systems

Аt the self-propelled howitzer artillery battalions of the Army, professional personnel are currently undergoing intensive training in using 122 mm self-propelled howitzers in combat.

On the training grounds, the crews of these artillery systems are improving team coordination during the implementation of collective tasks in operations and overall ability to provide fire support to the Army maneuver units.

In this phase, in accordance with the training program, tactical actions are practiced on the move and during gun emplacement as well as procedures while preparing and delivering indirect artillery fire and other procedures necessary for engaging targets at different distances with sudden, effective and concentrated artillery fire.

The training is carried out with the improved version of the self-propelled howitzer, which, after a modern fire control system is installed, has greater firepower, speed, accuracy of fire and a stronger effect on the target.

This training cycle will be completed with tactical exercises and live firing, during which the ability of the howitzer crews to perform specific tasks in winter conditions will be put into action, when it is difficult to perform reconnaissance, selection and camouflage of firing positions and data calculation due to snow and wet terrain.

Along with professional staff, the training of the Military Academy cadets, artillery module, is taking place in the self-propelled howitzer artillery battalions. During special lessons, they mainly practiced introducing the artillery unit into combat in a timely manner and organizing artillery fire.

Special forms of lessons provided in the units and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces are a mandatory part of education of the Military Academy cadets during which they build on the knowledge acquired in this higher learning institution and gain experience that will help them prepare in the best possible way for performing initial officer roles.
