The international United Nations Staff Officers Course, organized by the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, started today at the base "South" near Bujanovac.

The course is attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior and the armed forces of seven foreign countries, and during the three weeks they will be trained to work on staff duties in peacekeeping operations in accordance with the United Nations procedures and standards.

The training program covers the basic aspects of the functioning of United Nations integrated missions, familiarization with the planning process in a mission military component, staff functions and procedures, and a significant part of the course is devoted to analyzing the latest experiences from deployment in current United Nations peacekeeping operations.

The Peacekeeping Operations Centre is certified by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support to conduct this course according to United Nations standards and procedures. The interest of foreign countries in sending their personnel to this course is traditionally high, which confirms their trust in the Serbian Armed Forces training system for deployment in peace operations.
