Members of the 714th Anti-Tank Helicopter Squadron from the 98th Air Force Brigade are conducting intensive training in providing fire support to land and special forces on operation.

These activities aim to evaluate how the crews perform intended tasks in all weather conditions, as well as to improve further their combat skills.

In accordance with the training program, they conducted day and night live firing from Mi-35 and Gamma helicopters at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground this week. Targets on the ground were engaged with aircraft guns and Malyutka and Ataka anti-tank guided missiles.

At the Military Airfield Morava in Lađevci, preparatory and pre-flight activities were carried out in which all potential situations awaiting the flight crew on the mission were considered, from meteorological conditions to the state and quality of ammunition.

Captain 1st Class Goran Zlatković, an Mi-35M helicopter pilot, has pointed out that operations at the training ground represent the pinnacle of combat training of a combat helicopter pilot.

— Combat training is the most advanced form of training for a combat helicopter pilot because it implies previous acquisition of a high level of skills in all types of flying, day, night and navigational flying — said Captain Zlatković, indicating that, for the more experienced personnel of the squadron, combat flying is just another form of training and evaluation of the proficiency level.

The 98th Air Force Brigade’s Anti-Tank Helicopter Squadron is based at the “Morava” Airfield in Lađevci and is mainly intended for aerial fire support. In recent years, it has been significantly reinforced by introducing the Mi-35 combat helicopters into the armament.
