The international air force tactical exercise “Air Solution 2025” of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Air Force of Romania is taking place this week at airfields and in the airspace of the two states.

Serbian and Romanian fighter and transport aviation, helicopter squadrons, signal and ASEWG units, as well as the technical unit of the air force brigades, are taking part in the exercise, conducted under the theme “Control and protection of the airspace and conducting air operations in response to the border line crisis”.

The four-day training activities included practicing the relocation of aviation units, joint SAR, and the tasks of airspace control and protection, air support and guidance of fighter aviation.

Lt. Col. Goran Brkić, assistant commander of the 204th Air Force Brigade for operations, points out that the exercise of members of the two armed forces testifies to the decades-long successful cooperation.

— The goal of the exercise is to check the airspace protection systems of Serbia and Romania, to practice procedures with colleagues from the Air Force of that country, as well as to check the SAR systems in both countries. The activity is going as planned, just as expected given the long planning process and the fact that the cooperation with colleagues from Romania is excellent - said Lt. Col. Brkić, adding that it was a valuable exchange of experience that was happening without any problems in communication and according to the planned activity schedule.

By participating in the AIR SOLUTION 2025 Exercise, this year’s being the eighth one, the level of competence of commands to plan and conduct operations is improved, and thus the overall capabilities of the Air Force and Air Defense to perform the tasks of controlling and protecting the airspace of the Republic of Serbia. One of the goals of this multinational exercise, which took place in 2009 for the first time, is to improve the interoperability between the Air Forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and Romanian Armed Forces.
