Serbian Armed Forces Continue to Assist in Extinguishing Fires All Over Serbia

As of today, a Serbian Armed Forces Air Force and Air Defense Mi-17 helicopter has been deployed to extinguish a forest fire on Mountain Stolovi, near Kraljevo.

The fire engulfed more than 200 hectares of grass and low-lying vegetation. High temperatures and strong winds are hampering firefighting efforts, while ground crews are working to prevent the fire from spreading toward populated areas and a pine forest complex.

Given the inaccessible terrain, aerial firefighting is currently the most effective approach. A Serbian Armed Forces helicopter is carrying a 3,500-liter firefighting bucket, refilling with water from the intended reservoir in the village of Kamenica.

This Serbian Armed Forces Mi-17 helicopter previously participated in extinguishing a major fire in the Deliblato Sands, an operation that also involved other Serbian Armed Forces personnel equipped with fire trucks and engineering machinery.

Last night, members of the Army put out a fire in the area of the Bujanovac villages of Gornja and Donja Breznica; the fire has since been contained.

The Serbian Armed Forces remain ready—as always—to assist citizens and, within the limits of available capacity, to deploy their forces and assets whenever most needed, whether for firefighting, water supply, or mitigating the aftermath of other natural disasters and accidents.
