Serbian Armed Forces’ Engineers Helping Inhabitants of Villages near Prokuplje

As part of the regular engineering training, in cooperation with the local government in Prokuplje, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are performing works on the arrangement of the Mikulovac River bed and road communication between the villages of Gornje Kordince and Jugovac.
In this activity, which is one of the numerous CIMIC projects, an engineering task force from the 3rd Army Brigade is engaged, together with employees of the Public Utility Company from Prokuplje. The goal is to act preventively, increase the permeability of the river bed and allow for the protection against flash floods, as well as to improve the existing road infrastructure.
As part of the planned works, the removal of overgrown vegetation, deposits of soil and other deposited material from the river bed of the Mikulovac River, reparation of potholes and leveling of the road between the villages of Gornje Kordince and Jugovac are being carried out, using modern engineering machines the Serbian Armed Forces’ units are equipped with.
In addition to providing assistance and facilitating a daily life of residents of the villages in the vicinity of Prokuplje, working on the arrangement of the river bed and road is a form of training in real conditions for engineering units, and a way to improve additionally the ability to engage in the operations of the Serbian Armed Forces and execute specific tasks.
The Serbian Armed Forces implement CIMIC projects in all parts of the country, aiming to strengthen trust and understanding with local communities and make possible for a better life for people and protection of material goods, showing that they are always there for the citizens, not only when it comes to defending the country, but also when it is necessary to help the most vulnerable.
