Regular Replacement of Serbian Armed Forces Squad in UNFICYP

In accordance with the Annual Implementation Plan for Participation of the Serbian Armed Forces and Other Defence Forces in Multinational Operations, a regular replacement of the Serbian Armed Forces MP squad in the UNFICYP has taken place this week.

The Serbian Armed Forces deploy an MP squad for one year as part of the British contingent in Nicosia. The unit carries out a wide range of tasks, such as the implementation of protection measures for international forces, investigation activities based on the UN order, security patrols and escorts of VIPs. It also cooperates with local police forces in fulfilling its duties.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces who had been in the peacekeeping operation since March last year implemented all assigned tasks professionally and dedicatedly, which earned them the highest marks and praise from the international forces mission HQ, and presented the image and work of the Serbian soldier in the best way. They handed over the duty to a new contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, sent to the AO in mid-March.

Currently, in UNFICYP, in addition to an MP unit, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy staff officers, at the mission HQ in Nicosia.
