Replacement of Serbian Armed Forces Contingent in Peacekeeping Operation in Lebanon
Tuesday, 27.1.2026 | Multinational Operations
A new contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces was sent to the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon, consisting of an infantry company from the 2nd Army Brigade, staff officers and a group of specialist officers.
They will replace members of the Serbian Armed Forces who, since mid-July last year, in a complex security environment, have been engaged in peacekeeping tasks in Sector East of the mission in Lebanon.
The engagement of the contingent that arrived in the Republic of Serbia last night was assessed by superior officers and the mission HQ as extremely professional and responsible, which justified the reputation of the Serbian soldier in the best way possible and represented the Serbian Armed Forces and our country in an international environment.
The Serbian Armed Forces began participating in the United Nations mission in Lebanon in 2010, and in addition to the contingent in Sector East, a platoon of the Serbian Armed Forces for the protection of peacekeeping forces, in Sector West, is currently deployed in this operation. Our armed forces engage forces and resources in eight more peacekeeping operations, in Africa and the Middle East, thus contributing to building and safeguarding peace in the world.
