Regular training of members of the Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion of the Army needed to perform tasks in the field of intelligence security is ongoing at the training grounds on the outskirts of the city of Niš.
In the field, reconnaissance units are practicing the tactics, procedures and actions during reconnaissance and gathering data on the move, using the BRDM-2MS armoured reconnaissance vehicle.
As explained by the platoon commander, Captain 1st Class Marko Kostić, unit members are undergoing collective training in order to improve essential capabilities of the battalion to perform intended tasks during Army operations in accordance with the purpose of the unit.
— Modern assets for collecting and processing data allow us to transfer information at high speed, in real time, and the armoured reconnaissance vehicle, in addition to exceptional mobility and off-road capability, also provides a high degree of protection — stated Captain Kostić.
Unit members go through contents such as observation within the thermal imaging spectrum, sending data in real time, providing first aid and behavior in case of encountering mines and explosive ordnance.
One of the training goals is initial instruction of new members of the battalion, Private 1st Class Boško Miljković being one of them.
— Training in intelligence gathering in the field is demanding and complex because it requires many different abilities. We are aware of the importance of our duties and the information that the battalion provides during the operations — explained Private Miljković.
Training in the Armoured-Reconnaissance Battalion is a permanent task and is carried out in all terrain and weather conditions in order to ensure a high level of the unit’s ability to provide intelligence support in the operations of the Serbian Armed Forces.
