In the commands, units and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces today, the Day of the Army Service and the Day of the Infantry were celebrated, in memory of November 16, 1914, when the Battle of Kolubara began.

The central ceremony was held at the Home of the Serbian Armed Forces in Nis, where awards were presented to the best individuals and key achievements in building the operational and functional capabilities of this branch of the Serbian Armed Forces were summarized.

In reviewing the results achieved in the year behind us, it was pointed out that the members of the Army, regardless of numerous challenges, showed moral strength, professionalism and commitment in the realization of assigned tasks, above all along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, thus giving full contribution to the preservation of peace and security of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia.

On the occasion of the holiday, wreaths and flowers were laid on memorials dedicated to the participants of the liberation and defense wars of Serbia in garrisons and garrison towns throughout Serbia, and the military orchestra from Niš performed a promenade concert on the city's streets and squares.

The members of the Army also celebrated the Đurđić Patron Saint and the holy bishop's liturgy was served on that occasion by the vicar of the Serbian patriarch Porfirije, the bishop of Lipljan and the military bishop, Dositej.

Today, the members of the Army Training Center also celebrated their holiday in memory of the Kolubara Battle and one of the biggest victories of the Serbian military in history. At a ceremony on that occasion in the "General Pavle Jurišić Šturm" barracks in Požarevac, awards were given to the most outstanding individuals and the results of the unit's work were summarized, which in the previous year had successfully implemented professional-specialist training of all categories of permanent and reserve component of the Serbian Armed Forces.
