Training of Forward Air Controllers

In the 126th ASEWG Brigade units, professional members are undergoing routine training needed to perform intended tasks related to air traffic communications and control of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.

Officers occupying the positions of Forward Air Controllers (FAC) in ASEWG companies are involved in this training so as to maintain the proficiency required for guiding the fighter aviation and providing navigational aid to aircraft in an emergency.

During training, FACs work closely with the crews of fighter-interceptor aircraft and with the Serbian and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA), practicing jointly the procedures for providing navigational aid to aircraft above the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

In order to carry out such missions, it is necessary to have exceptionally competent FACs, high-level coordination of all participants in the air traffic communications, as well as perfectly trained ASEWG combat shifts.

The FACs’ outstanding commitment and motivation, as well as professional cooperation of the combat shifts and units in interoperability provide a guarantee of successful training, which makes additional improvements in the ability of AF and AD units to control and protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
