With
the honorary salvo and parachuting landing in the broader area of the
“Eternal Fire” Monument, today began the dress rehearsal of the
ceremonial parade “March of the Victorious” which will be held on
October 16 on the occasion of marking 70 years since the liberation of
our capital in the Second World War and the centenary of the beginning
of the Great War.
Soldiers and senior staff from all organizational units of the Armed Forces of Serbia once again practiced to the smallest details the scenario of the defile for the ceremony such as Serbia has not had since 1985.
The only sound echoing through Nikola Tesla Boulevard was the unanimous batting of sharp military steps that was occasionally interrupted by ovations of wowed citizens, which gathered in large numbers today as well to watch the finishing preparations.
Infantry, motorized and air echelons alternated in turns, while, to the general excitement, members of the Guard performed a close-drill that they have become known for. Members of the Riverine Flotilla started their defile on water manning the rail, presenting vessels from their formation. Guests from Russia presented themselves to the gathered citizens for the first time – the five-member acro group “Strizi” performed an impressive pilot program in the sky over the capital.
– I wish you to rest tomorrow and to perform the task ahead of you on Thursday with equal dedication, and to show our country and the entire world the quantity and the quality of the Armed Forces of Serbia – Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic told the participants of the parade after the dress rehearsal.
