Serbian Armed Forces Installed Pontoon Bridge over Velika Morava near Svilajnac

Members of the pontoon units of the Serbian Armed Forces installed a pontoon bridge over the Velika Morava near Svilajnac in the immediate vicinity of the existing, main bridge on which traffic has been suspended since June last year.

The bridge was installed at the request of the representatives of the local government in Svilajnac in order to enable better communication and faster crossing of the river for the locals, who had been forced to use long alternative routes.

During the implementation of the activity, the pontoneers performed all the necessary checks of the pontoon ferries, transported them by river and set up a bridge. After security checks and signal checks, the bridge was handed over today to the Municipality of Svilajnac for use.

Passenger motor vehicles, motorcyclists and pedestrians will be able to cross it, while buses and trucks will continue to be directed to alternative routes. In order to ensure complete safety for all users, a duty crew has been deployed to take care of the safety and maintenance of the bridge all the time.

The pontoon bridge will make life much easier for the residents of Svilajnac and its surroundings, while the Serbian Armed Forces show once again that they are always there at the service of the citizens.
