Course for UN Peacekeeping Training Instructors

With the support of the Serbian Armed Forces Peacekeeping Operations Center, the United Nations Integrated Training Service organized a course on the Tara Mountain for infantry battalions training instructors engaged under the mandate of this international organization.

The two-week course was attended by officers from the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces from 14 foreign countries and four continents. In accordance with the training program, they worked on the current UN standards and procedures and methodology of training units for engagement in peacekeeping operations.

Since all participants have previous experience in training individuals and units to participate within the peacekeeping forces’ military component, during the course they did a revision of training materials for infantry battalions. These units perform a wide range of tasks in peacekeeping operations, so standardized training material, tailored to the modern operational environment, is necessary for the effective joint engagement of forces from different countries, and thus for the mission’s success.

Implementation of this international training represents the continued support that the Republic of Serbia provides to the specialized UN services with a view to building and preserving peace in the world and is a confirmation of the quality of training and preparations carried out in the Serbian Armed Forces for the purpose of participation in peacekeeping operations.
