The 3rd Army Brigade units are located at the “Pasuljanske Livade” training ground, undergoing tactical drills and live firing with a variety of weapons. Infantry, artillery, tank and mechanized units are engaged, with the support of engineering and logistics units.
In the conditions that simulate real combat situations, the units are being checked on their tactical and fire capabilities to execute specific tasks in military operations. They fire using tanks, artillery assets, modernized vehicles and newly introduced infantry weapons, the results so far confirming a high level of competence of the professional staff.
A platoon commander, 37th Mechanized Battalion, 2nd Lt. Andrija Stefanović, says that members of his unit, after completing preparatory, training and live firing, are conducting live-fire tactical exercises using modernized M-80 AB1/V2 combat vehicles.
— These modernized vehicles showed high precision and reliability, and crew members quickly got used to the new equipment. The fact which is especially pleasing is that younger members, who have recently joined professional service, approached these vehicles with great responsibility and self-confidence. Modernized systems ensure not only better visibility and stability, but also the firepower, which affects considerably the confidence of crews on the ground. It is these activities and firing results that show the extent to which operational capabilities have been increased — stressed 2nd Lt. Stefanović.
Corporal Aleksandar Nikolić, a member of the reconnaissance company, 30th Command Battalion, points out that the implementation of this training improves the ability to use newly introduced and modernized equipment.
— During the exercise, we use drones in the conditions simulating real combat situations focusing on reconnaissance, observation, data collection and provision of timely information support to units on the ground. Firing was also carried out using the M-07M sniper rifle and the 12.7 mm “black spear” sniper rifle. Through this kind of continuous training, we raise the competence level and provide reliable support to forces on the ground in carrying out the assigned tasks. With the implementation of the tactical exercise, the skills of the personnel were improved and the unit’s abilities to use efficiently the assets in all conditions were strengthened — said CPL Nikolić.
Tactical drills of the 3rd Army Brigade units are part of the regular training cycle carried out throughout the year to maintain and improve the skills of professional staff and the unit’s combat readiness. Deputy Army Commander, Brigadier General Vladan Milosavljević, accompanied by 3rd Brigade Commander, Colonel Saša Todorov, inspected the implementation of tasks on the ground, gaining insight into the quality of the organization of activities on the ground and training results.
