Training of Officers for Roles in Peacekeeping Operations

An International UN Staff Officers Course has been conducted at the South Base near Bujanovac, attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and armed forces from ten foreign countries.
During the three-week training, participants went through theoretical and practical contents related to the most important aspects of functioning of integrated UN missions, the planning process in the military component and staff functions and procedures, and a significant part of the course was devoted to examining the experience of staff officers from current peacekeeping operations.
The course was organized by the Serbian Armed Forces Peacekeeping Operations Center, with the involvement of lecturers from the Ministry of Defense, Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Peacekeeping Operations Center from Kazakhstan, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Red Cross of Serbia, International Committee of the Red Cross, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN Children’s Fund in the Republic of Serbia.
Our Peacekeeping Operations Center is certified by the UN Integrated Training Service to conduct this course according to UN standards and procedures. The interest of foreign countries in referring their personnel to this course is traditionally high, which speaks of the high quality of training and preparations carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces for the needs of participation in peacekeeping operations.
