Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service Day

A military ceremony marking Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service Day was held today at the “Banjica” barracks in Belgrade. The day is observed in memory of 18 June 1915, when an order was issued to establish permanent signal stations for indicating the flight direction of enemy aircraft.
At the ceremony, the results achieved over the past year were summarized, awards were presented to the most distinguished individuals, and wreaths were laid at the memorial through which the 126th Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance Brigade preserves the memory of Lieutenants Siniša Radić and Željko Savičić, who were killed during the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999.
In reviewing the most significant results, it was emphasized that the equipping of the unit with modern air surveillance and early warning systems has continued. Together with the high level of training of its professional personnel, this ensures the highest standards in carrying out tasks related to the control of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Brane Krnjajić, representatives of Serbian Armed Forces units, the Serbian Orthodox Church, local government authorities, and institutions with which the 126th ASEWG Brigade cooperates.
