In the area of peacetime deployment of the Mixed Artillery Brigade in Niš, the training of members of the unit with self-propelled gun-howitzers 155 mm B-52 M-15 “Nora” is underway.
The training is carried out with the aim of preserving the achieved level of ability and improving individual and collective skills in the Brigade. The crews of this weapon are practicing gun emplacement, transferring combat assets from the marching position to a combat-ready one, identifying targets and firing data calculation in the given norms.
Second Lieutenant Maja Stojiljković, deputy commander of the self-propelled gun-howitzer artillery battery, points out that for operational success, along with proper handling of the weapon, a good knowledge of tactics is extremely important.
— The self-propelled howitzer is technologically advanced and automated, and it is up to the crewmen to make maximum use of all its capabilities. Training is not only firing; it also includes tactical operations, as well as system maintenance, knowledge of the functions and right decision-making, said 2nd Lt Stojiljković.
Afterwards, the combat crews are supposed to undergo more complex training in the field and scheduled firing, where they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their tactical and fire skills in the implementation of tasks in combat operations.
The significance of introducing this modern weapon into operational use in the Serbian Armed Forces is reflected in the improvement of combat capabilities of the Mixed Artillery Brigade, i.e. the ability to provide reliable, fast and precise artillery-missile support to Army units while conducting operations.
