Units of the 3rd Army Brigade have conducted stationary camp at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground, while executing tactical drills and firing using branch-specific weapons.
During the multi-day stay in the field, members of the Brigade’s infantry, artillery, tank and mechanized battalions, with the support of engineering and logistics units, also carried out live-fire tactical exercises, which is the crucial part of this training segment.
The goal was to check, in the conditions close to real life, the tactical and firearms skills in fulfilling specific tasks in the Serbian Armed Forces’ operations. They fired from tanks, armored fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and infantry weapons, the achieved results confirming high proficiency of the 3rd Army Brigade’s soldiers, NCOs and officers.
Commander of the 31st Infantry Battalion, Lt. Col. Vladica Stanković, has explained that, before they arrived at the Pasuljanske Livade, members of that unit had had individual and collective training, as well as scheduled live firing, in their home garrison.
— Upon their arrival at the military complex Pasuljanske Livade, members of this unit conducted live firing, namely, preparatory firing of operators of the Lazar 3 wheeled armored vehicle, MRAP APC, firing with collective weapons of the support platoon, as well as live-fire tactical exercises of the squad, platoon and company. The morale and willingness of the soldiers to execute firing and all the contents and activities planned at this military complex contributed to the successful performance of the tasks, as planned at the beginning of the stationary camp, said Lt. Col. Stanković.
Sergeant Bojan Zdravković, IFV squad commander, 37th Mechanized Battalion, has emphasized that the live-fire tactical exercises conducted at Pasuljanske Livade are intended to prepare them as much as possible for the tasks that could be assigned to them.
— The biggest problem here so far has been the changing weather conditions, but thanks to our will and commitment, we managed to overcome everything that was in store for us. I would like to commend the dedication and hard work of all crew members, because only this way can it be possible for us to complete all our assignments – Sgt. Zdravković stressed.
Nikola Marković, a soldier on voluntary military service, 36th Tank Battalion, revealed that during this camp he fired his first shot using an M-84 tank, after the preparations he had gone through at the Mija Stanimirović Barracks in Niš.
— I am extremely satisfied that I hit all targets during my first firing, which was praised by my superiors also. Yesterday’s success motivated me even more to stay in professional service with the Serbian Armed Forces - said soldier Marković.
An important part of the field training was additional training of newly recruited soldiers and young officers for their initial roles in the units, who are thus preparing systematically for the most demanding tasks; as a matter of fact, by successful completion of field training, the operational capabilities of these units to carry out their tasks in the first mission of the Serbian Armed Forces have been largely improved.
