Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović have attended today, in Base South near Bujanovac, the final activities of the Multinational Tactical Training Exercise Platinum Wolf 25, organized by the Serbian Armed Forces with the support of the United States European Command (USEUCOM).

The exercise involved more than 700 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Romania, North Macedonia, the United States, Montenegro and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In the locations of Base South, at Borovac Training Area and Vrtogoš Range, participants practised a series of tactical scenarios – securing the base and a convoy, patrolling, area search and urban warfare. This year, members of the Balkan Medical Task Force are engaged for the first time.

The exercise observers have had an opportunity today to see well-trained tactics, techniques and procedures performed by multinational units in peacekeeping operations.

Minister Gašić has congratulated all participants on a successfully conducted exercise and emphasized the importance of Platinum Wolf as one of the key examples of successful international military cooperation.

— This exercise confirms the capability of the Serbian Armed Forces to participate in peacekeeping operations and respond to all security challenges, side by side with foreign partners. The collaboration with our partners not only strengthens interoperability, but also deepens trust and a mutual commitment to preserving peace — said Minister of Defence and thanked all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and foreign armed forces who contributed to the successful execution of the exercise with their knowledge, professionalism and dedication.

Deputy Commander of the 4th Army Brigade and the exercise director, Colonel Miodrag Mladenović, has emphasized that the 4th Army Brigade is responsible for planning and conducting Platinum Wolf exercise in cooperation with the Centre for Training Units for Multinational Operations of the Serbian Armed Forces.

— The objective of this exercise is to improve interoperability and mutual understanding between the armies of partner countries in performing tasks in a multinational environment in peace support operations — said Colonel Mladenović.

Director of the Joint Staff at Ohio National Guard, Brigadier General Jeffrey Watkins, said he was grateful for the opportunity for members of the US Armed Forces to participate in Platinum Wolf exercise this year and to train together with their colleagues from Serbia.

— It is important that we practise together to see what our capabilities are, to use equipment together and practise tactics, techniques and procedures, and you could see in the exercise that we are creating cohesion and strong teams between participants – said General Watkins.

Multinational exercises from Platinum Wolf series have been conducted in Serbia since 2014 and are important because they improve the Serbian Armed Forces units’ capability to engage in peacekeeping operations, exchange of experiences and strengthening mutual trust and understanding.
