Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, has spoken today with KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, about the security situation in our southern province.
At the meeting held in Belgrade, the activities undertaken to monitor the situation on the ground, prevent the escalation of the crisis and, ultimately, preserve peace and security in Kosovo and Metohija, were discussed.
In the conversation, it has been stated that the security situation in the Province is extremely sensitive and that it is therefore important that KFOR acts fully in accordance with its mandate, as well as that it is necessary to continue joint activities and maintaining regular contacts between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR at all levels.
Pointing out that the unilateral moves by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština represent the greatest threat to security, General Mojsilović asked the KFOR Commander to take necessary measures to protect the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija — in accordance with the mandate of the International Security Forces as the only legitimate armed formation in the Province, and especially during the campaign for the upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija.
He has also pointed out that the Republic of Serbia does not look favorably on the continuous arming and training of the so-called “Kosovo Security Forces”, claiming that these are provocative activities that do not contribute to peace and security.
