At the training ground “Rujnik” near Niš, the Serbian Armed Forces tank crews are undergoing tactical drills for defensive and offensive operations using T-72 MS tanks.

The drills are part of an intensive training cycle that lasts several months. In the first phase, tank crews were trained in individual actions and procedures and basic tank maintenance, in accordance with their specialties, while now they are undergoing tactical training in field conditions.

Platoon commander, Captain Stefan Pešić, says that the T-72MS tank is characterized by high protection, firepower and mobility, and points out that it can operate without problems at night and in limited visibility.

— In this intensive period of training, the tank company is implementing tactical training contents, after which we have preparatory and school firing. At the end of this period, we are expected to conduct a live-fire tactical exercise, where the skills of the crews of the tank platoons and the company on the whole are checked - said Captain Pešić, who has been in the T-72M Tank Battalion since its formation.

Sergeant Mihajilo Dinić, the gunner of the T-72MS tank, said that he had chosen this unit because he loved his vocation, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia.

— Here, at the training, we acquire knowledge and skills that provide us with the efficient use of tanks on the modern battlefield, in the conditions where modern anti-tank weapons are used. I arrived at the unit in August last year after completing the NCO course, and I am extremely satisfied with the team and the prospects for improvement, Sergeant Dinić stressed.

Thanks to continuous training, collective strength and strong motivation, the tank units of the Serbian Armed Forces are characterized by a high level of combat readiness to perform combat actions in offensive and defensive operations of the Army, where they have a leading role and importance.
