Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Meets KFOR Commander

Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, has had talks with KFOR Commander, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia in Belgrade today.

The discussion at the meeting covered the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and activities undertaken for the purpose of preserving and enhancing peace and security in the territory of our southern province.

In a conversation with the newly-appointed KFOR Commander, General Mojsilović has stressed that, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and all signed agreements, KFOR is the only legitimate security actor in the province, and is, therefore, obliged to be the first responder if the security in Kosovo and Metohija is jeopardized. He has pointed out that unilateral moves by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština do not contribute to de-escalating the situation on the ground, expressing his concern over the fact that certain countries whose contingents are part of KFOR are helping them develop the so-called Kosovo security forces.

Chief of the General Staff has taken the opportunity to congratulate General Ristuccia on his appointment as Commander of International Forces in Kosovo and Metohija, which took place in mid-October, expressing hope that the professional cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR will also continue during his terms of office.
