Rotation of the SAF Contingent in the UN Mission in Lebanon

Contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, consisting of an infantry company, staff officers and members of the national support element, was deployed yesterday from the Niš airport "Konstantin the Great" to the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon. In the next six months, they will be deployed in the Sector East of the peacekeeping operation, within the contingent of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Spain.

Previously, contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces redeployed from Lebanon, after successfully completing all tasks in this United Nations peacekeeping mission during almost nine months of deployment.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was established by United Nations Security Council Resolutions of 19 March 1978. Members of the Serbian Armed Forces  began deployment in this mission on December 21, 2010, and 142 members of the Serbian Armed Forces are currently deployed in UNIFIL.
