The River Flotilla pontoon units were engaged in the part of the Danube-Tisa-Danube hydro system in order to create conditions for the exploration of drill holes in the riverbed of the Great Bačka Canal and Little Bačka Canal for the purpose of building a high-speed railway.

In order to enable drilling from anchored floating platforms and testing the composition of the riverbed, the pontoon units set up segments from the pontoon bridge kit and, and by skillfully maneuvering the tugs and boats, moved the platforms and anchored them to the required locations.

This week, as part of the tasks realization, the River Flotilla members formed ferries and by navigating the Danube and the canal network in Vojvodina, they relocated to the positions of construction works in the Mali Bački Canal near Novi Sad.

In addition to contributing to the construction of a high-speed railway that will connect the Republic of Serbia and Hungary, the engagement of pontoon units of the River Flotilla on the Danube-Tisa-Danube hydro system is an excellent opportunity to train the youngest soldiers and officers in navigation and river crossing.
