Advanced Training for Serbian Armed Forces’ Offensive River Unit
Monday, 8.9.2025 | Training
Advanced specialist training of members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ offensive river unit is underway in the 72nd Special Operations Brigade.
The training lasts for six months and is conducted at the Serbian Armed Forces’ training grounds and canals, rivers and lakes in order to enable the participants to carry out offensive actions, counter-sabotage and counter-terrorist activities and collect intelligence data on the land, water and underwater. It is organized when it is necessary to fill the 82nd Offensive River Company.
The specialists who sign up for this course are expected to undergo a very demanding training in the water and on the land, which includes tactical and specialist training, with at least two days of diving per week and numerous 30 kilometer marches with full combat gear.
One of the training participants, who has been in the unit for five years, points out that he applied for the course to check if he is ready enough to be a member of the 82nd Offensive River Company.
— In order to start the Course for the River Offensive Units, we undergo detailed and strict medical examinations and a physical fitness test. The selection is natural, the course lasts for six months, now we are already halfway through the course. After the first training part and basic training, we start diving alone, that is, with our diving partner, and that brotherly check and diving in pair means a lot to us. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to dive on our own. Everything that happens, every task we have, we do in pair and we must never rely on a third party, said the course participant and candidate for admission to the 82nd Offensive River Company.
The offensive river units of the Serbian Armed Forces are staffed with versatile fighters trained to carry out the most complex tasks, both in their own and enemy-controlled territory. Their advanced training is a prerequisite for the successful execution of special operations in all hydrometeorological and tactical conditions, so they undergo complex and demanding training throughout the year.
