Serbian Armed Forces Day — April 23 is solemnly marked with a series of events in the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces, in memory of the day when, in 1815, the Second Serbian Uprising broke out, which is recognized as the turning point in the creation of the modern Serbian state and army.

On the occasion of the most important military holiday, military ceremonies were held in the garrisons and garrison places of the Serbian Armed Forces, where the work results of the year behind were summarized, with reference to the rich military history of our nation. Decorations, awards and commendations were awarded to officers, NCOs, soldiers and civilians who excelled with exceptional results and commitment to their service in the recent period.

On the eve of the holiday, a gun salute was fired from the Sava terrace on Kalemegdan, and, today, wreaths have been laid at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala, Takovo memorial complex dedicated to the Second Serbian Uprising, and war memorials honoring the soldiers who died in defensive and liberation wars.
