Riverine Units and River Flotilla Day was ceremoniously marked in Novi Sad to commemorate the day— August 19, 1915, when, 111 years ago, on—the first Serbian warship, “Jadar”, was launched into the Sava River near Belgrade’s Čukarica district, thereby initiating the rich history of the Serbian river war flotilla.

As part of the holiday celebrations, key results in building the River Flotilla’s capabilities were presented, a ceremonial parade of vessels was held, and awards presented to distinguished individuals, alongside commendations for the best platoon and best crew from the river detachments and pontoon battalions.

While reviewing the results achieved in the recent period, it was highlighted that the River Flotilla—thanks to the professional and dedicated efforts of its personnel—had carried out successfully all assigned tasks on inland waterways and contributed to strengthening the capabilities of the Army and the Serbian Armed Forces on the whole.

The ceremony in Novi Sad was attended by Army Commander, Major General Zoran Nasković; representatives of Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces units, local government bodies, and institutions with which the unit cooperates; as well as numerous guests.
