Soldiers performing military service as part of the December 2024 intake have been tested on their individual specialist skills at the Serbian Armed Forces’ specialist training centers.

This evaluation comes after the second phase of the first training period, during which the soldiers completed all individual tactical training activities, undertook tactical actions on the battlefield, learned to handle weapons and assets of their branch/service, and conducted all scheduled firing.

During the two-day check, according to the specialties for which they were recruited, the soldiers carried out tactical training tasks and, through practical actions and procedures, demonstrated the acquired knowledge and skills in using weapons, combat equipment and military equipment.

The infantry, artillery and engineer soldiers went through the assessment at the Army Training Centre in Požarevac, the "General Pavle Jurišić Šturm Barracks’ training ground. Under the supervision of their superiors, they were checked and evaluated on handling mortars and automatic grenade launchers, combat work as part of the crews of artillery systems, and laying anti-personnel mines.

Sergeant Marko Mišić, sniper specialty training instructor from the Infantry Training Company, points out that the soldiers completed all planned firing and stationary camp at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground, as one of the conditions for undergoing the skills assessment.

— The motivation of the soldiers is rather high, and, after completing the evaluation, they acquire a new military occupational specialty, which is a basis for their further work with the Serbian Armed Forces — says Sergeant Mišić, noting that, after the evaluation, the soldiers of the December 2024 intake are sent to the Serbian Armed Forces’ units for collective training.

Considering the individual skills assessment as an important stage of specialist training, Private 1st Class Petar Markov, an attendant of an automatic 30 mm M93 grenade launcher, says that voluntary military service is demanding and that the citizens of the Republic of Serbia have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the Serbian Armed Forces through military service and develop team spirit in a healthy environment.

— The evaluation itself is the crown of our training and a sign of our readiness to show all that we have learned for the last month and a half, in accordance with the defined criteria and standards that must be met — said the Pte 1st Class Markov, adding that the achieved results would not have been possible without the effort and patience of responsible officers.

Soldiers of the December 2024 intake have fully met the evaluation criteria and standards, having mastered all the contents in this training phase, which is also a confirmation that the training was well planned and performed. They are now supposed to be transferred to the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, where they will train to perform collective tasks, being actively involved, together with professional staff, in the life and work of the units during the final three months of their military service.
