On the Occasion of May 06, Day of the Guard
I wish to congratulate all members of the Guard on 06 May, Day of the Unit.
From 1830, when Gvardija was formed by Order of Prince Miloš Obrenović from the most respectable young men of the time, until today, thanks to your exceptional abilities and high professionalism, you acquired reputation as an elite Serbian Armed Forces’ unit, which has existed almost as long as the modern Serbian state.
The Serbian Armed Forces Guard is a symbol of tradition, honor and devoted service to the state. Through your commitment and disciplined approach, over the years, you have confirmed your importance as one of the most representative units of our Armed Forces. You represent Serbia consistently and proudly both in the country and abroad.
The results you achieved while performing the most complex tasks speak of your superb skills, discipline and unwavering loyalty to the fatherland. Well-aware of the importance of your role, the state will continue investing in modern equipment, uniforms, weapons, training and the living standard of the Guard members, because the strong, well-equipped and respectable Guard preserves the reputation of not only the Serbian Armed Forces but also the entire state.
Thank you for your impeccable and honorable service. I am certain that you will continue to set an example for others in the future as well, strengthening the confidence you enjoy.
May this day, 195th anniversary and St. Patron’s Day, be an encouragement to you to accomplish the set goals.
