Laying Wreath at Monument to Unknown Hero on Occasion of Serbian Armed Forces Day

Envoy of Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić, accompanied by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović and Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, Brigadier General Novica Gogić, has laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala, on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day - April 23.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, to the sound of the national anthem, accompanied by the honorary guard, Minister Gašić wrote in the memorial book:

“Freedom-loving and firm, with their strong spirit and faith in freedom, Serbian people have been resisting great temptations and preserving their dignity through centuries.

Deeply respectful, we pay tribute to all of you who, guided by your love for the motherland, defended its honor, independence and right to the future. Your sacrifice, courage and loyalty to Serbia are permanently engrained in the foundations of our country and remain a testament to future generations. 

Proud of your great deeds, members of the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces continue to be a strong support for the peace and security of our homeland. 

Eternal glory and gratitude to you!

Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! 
Long live Serbia!"

The Serbian Armed Forces Day is marked in memory of the Second Serbian Uprising which broke out on April 23, 1815, and is a turning point in the creation of the modern Serbian state and army.
