In the Dog Training Centre of the Serbian Armed Forces in Niš, the final phase of the six-month training for service dog handlers is underway.

During the training at the "Knjaz Mihailo" barracks, non-commissioned officers and professional soldiers were selected who showed maximum dedication and affinity for working with service dogs. Upon successful completion of the training, they will be engaged as instructors on courses for service dog handlers and dog training and retraining.

Under the direct guidance of experienced instructors, course participants master the program that includes dog handlers training methodology and dog training skills and they also train their show dogs, which they will use in their further work for conducting courses and giving presentations at the Dog Training Centre.

With the successful implementation of this course, the Serbian Armed Forces will receive a new generation of instructors for specific training of service dogs, which are irreplaceable when performing numerous tasks of anti-sabotage protection of protected persons, buildings and vehicles, and searching for mines, unexploded ordnance and psychoactive substances.
