As part of the preparations for deployment in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon, a three-day tactical exercise named „Serbian Shield“ was conducted this week at the „South“ base and at the „Borovac“ range near Bujanovac.

The readiness of the infantry company from the Second Army Brigade for conducting tasks within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon was evaluated during the exercise.

The members of the infantry company solved tasks that were fully adjusted to those in the area of operation, such as the application of tactical actions and procedures in the event of an attack on a patrol or base, encountering mine-explosive obstacles, during providing permanent checkpoint, convoy and escort, and the suppression of protests and control of mass gatherings.

The control of the regularity of actions and adhering to the international training standards that the unit needs to achieve was conducted by the evaluation team from the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, and the results of the inspection showed that this contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces was completely ready to be deployed in the peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.

The Serbian Armed Forces began participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon in 2010, and since 2013 it has been deploying an infantry company, which conducts tasks as part of the Spanish battalion.
