Intensive Training in Eagle Squadron of the Serbian Armed Forces

In order to improve the ability to provide air support to ground and special forces of the Serbian Armed Forces, pilots of the 241st Fighter Bomber Squadron of the 98th Air Force Brigade are undergoing intensive training with Eagle aircraft in all weather conditions, day and night.

At the Morava Military Airfield in Lađevci near Kraljevo, preparations are being made these days for flight training in night conditions. Except for pilots, training is also organized for technicians of all specialties, whose preparation, checks and evaluation of the proper functioning of navigation, aircraft and weapon systems determine the safety, proper functioning and availability of aircraft for combat and flight tasks.

As the commander of the 241st Fighter Bomber Squadron, Lt. Col. Saša Stojiljković explains, the vocation of the pilot is simply loved.

— All colleagues share the same passion for flying, which appears when someone does something they love and enjoy, and it is the biggest benefit of this job. It is also an advantage that we experience what is not usual for an ordinary person: seeing from a bird's perspective and freedom of maneuver in the air, it is something that is indescribable. Even today, after more than 20 years of flying career, I approach flying with the same vigor, feeling in my stomach and enthusiasm. And that is something that cannot be described in words, which I would sincerely like everyone to try, because it gives us the motivation for further improvement and development of the flying career — emphasized Lt. Col. Stojiljković.

Pilot Second Lieutenant Đorđe Colić points out that every young person who has the desire and will to become a pilot should be mentally and physically ready, but also disciplined and prepared for great sacrifices during their career.

— For me, the turning point was the informative flight with the Utva plane, when after landing I felt special and important, as if I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. Only after graduating from the Military Academy did I switch to the Eagle J-22 aircraft, and for two years now I’ve been slowly falling in love with it. The specificity of my squadron is very low flying, but also engaging strategic targets, bridges, convoys of vehicles, and that arouses a greater dose of adrenaline than flying with other types of aircraft — said the pilot in the squadron called “Tigers”, who loves the vocation of a military pilot so much that he would like to pass on his love for aviation to his descendants.

Young men and women willing to become pilots of the Serbian Armed Forces have a deadline until May 31 to apply for admission to the aviation courses of the Military Grammar School and Military Academy and get the chance to fly modern airplanes and helicopters the flight arsenal of the Serbian Air Force units is enriched with.
