Serbian Armed Forces Put Up Temporary Bridge on Hisar Hill

Tuesday, 2.8.2022 | CIMIC
The Army Engineer Battalion members have put up a bridge over archaeological excavations on Hisar Hill in Prokuplje to provide conditions for continuing the works on the arrangement of this location.

This is a heavy mechanized bridge, 20m long, with 40 ton payload capacity, enabling the passage of heavy construction machines used for paving the roads to this hill, famous for the remnants of a medieval fortress.

Three years ago, with the support of line ministries, local government began working on the arrangement of the Hill of Hisar and restoration of the archaeological and historical sites; SAF’s assistance has played a vital role in continuing the works since the route runs across valuable archaeological sites and excavations which had to be bridged.

As SAF support to the local government, this activity provides an excellent opportunity for additional engineer training in putting up heavy mechanized bridges intended for overcoming dry and water obstacles with up to 40m width.
