Serbian Armed Forces Engineer Corps Helping Residents of Sjenica Municipality

At the request of the local government authorities, members of the engineering units of the Serbian Armed Forces are engaged in the reconstruction of macadam roads in the area of Sjenica Municipality, where they are currently working on repairing road communications in the village of Bare. In this way, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are providing help and support to local population, enabling them to have better traffic connections with the city.
As explained by the road platoon leader, 210th Engineering Battalion, 2nd Army Brigade, Lieutenant Danilo Božović, the engineering group at this location has five engineering machines and three motor vehicles.
— The works started on July 14. So far, road communication has been completed in the village of Crčevo, and today we are in the village of Bare, where the works are being performed: filling a road section, arrangement and construction of the road bed, as well as side slopes and canals — explained Lieutenant Božović.
Živan Bradić, a resident of the village of Blato, which belongs to Bare, Sjenica, emphasized that whenever he and his neighbors went to Sjenica, they asked for a road to be built, which means a lot to them, so their gratitude to the Armed Forces that came to reconstruct it is even greater.
— We use that road when we need to go to Sjenica to pay for something, buy groceries and food for the cattle, we don’t have any other roads. What will be done this time means a lot to us. But we have another problem, a three kilometer section of the road, preceding the one where the reconstruction began, should also be fixed. There are ten or twelve houses there, old people live there, there are no children. We socialize with the soldiers and help them if a branch or a tree needs to be cut. Our people clear and widen the road so that the military machines would not be damaged. Everyone is grateful, everyone is satisfied, we are getting along very well with the military — said Živan Bradić.
Vice President of the Sjenica Municipality, Radiša Knežević, stated that the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and local government had been at an exceptional level for many years.
— Whenever it was difficult, we asked our armed forces to help us. Over the last two weeks, two roads to Novi Pazar have been repaired at a completely different location, at the foot of Golija, in the villages of Crčevo and Šare, where we reconstructed a road about five kilometers long. There are many school and preschool children there and we made it easier for them to go to school and back. A few days ago, the military transferred its machines to this location, Bare, Sjenica, where we are also reconstructing two roads — in the villages of Blato and Grgaje. We also received help from our residents, because most of these roads go through the forest, so they cut down the branches that hindered the passage of the vehicles of the Serbian Armed Forces — explained Knežević and thanked all the officers and soldiers, especially members of the 2nd Army Brigade, for their long-term support.
The engagement of the Engineer Corps in the village of Bare, Sjenica, demonstrates once again the commitment of the Serbian Armed Forces to supporting the citizens of the Republic of Serbia and making a concrete contribution to improving the living conditions of the locals and their better connection with other parts of the municipality. It is also an opportunity for them to put their abilities into action and further improve their skills in handling engineering machines for arranging roads, overcoming obstacles, blocking and camouflage.
