Soldiers on voluntary military service are currently undergoing individual specialized training at the training and exercise areas of the Army Training Centre preparing for marksman duties in the Serbian Armed Forces.

The training course is six weeks long and is attended by soldiers of the December 2022 intake who scored the best firing results and proved they were mentally and physically fit to perform demanding marksman roles. They concentrate on learning how to carry out specific combat missions and handle the marksman rifle 7.9mm M76 and long-range rifle 12.7 mm M93.

The training curriculum outlines different tactical, firearms and physical training contents, the focus being on the proper use of items for camouflage, battlefield movement, choice and management of cover for action and carrying out fire missions. It requires soldiers to execute a large number of firing activities in a very short time as well as tactical and physically demanding marches, to improve the speed of reaction, accuracy and efficiency during fire missions, and overall physical fitness.

At the end of this stage soldiers undergo skills assessment; then they are transferred to SAF units for three-month collective training to upgrade their knowledge and skills further and become fully trained for marksman duties.
