Military Ceremony on Occasion of Guard Day

A military ceremony has been held at the Dedinje Barracks in Belgrade today on the occasion of the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, marked in memory of May 06, 1830, when the first guard unit in Serbia was formed in Požarevac.

On the occasion of the holiday, a parade of Guard units and a motorized echelon was held accompanied by a performance of the Guard Representative Orchestra, the work results in the recent period were highlighted and awards handed to the most successful individuals.

In reviewing the results achieved in the year that marks the 195th anniversary of the establishment of the first guard unit, the professionalism and high level of competence of the unit members were singled out, confirmed while fulfilling numerous tasks, from training, providing logistics support and securing vital objects of the defense system to rendering military honors to the highest foreign, national and military officials.

Today, the Guard members have also celebrated their St. Patron’s Day, Day of Holy Great Martyr George - St. George’s Day.
