The day of the ASEWG Service — June 18, was solemnly celebrated at the “Banjica” Barracks in Belgrade in memory of the day in 1915 when an order was issued to establish permanent signal stations to mark the flight direction of enemy planes, which laid the foundations for the development of this service.
On the occasion of the holiday, a military ceremony was held, with a parade of units of the 126th ASEWG Brigade and a reminder of the service’s rich history and crucial achievements in building operational capabilities. Awards were presented to the most successful individuals and wreaths laid at the memorial in the barracks, with which this unit preserves the memory of those killed in NATO aggression in 1999.
While reviewing the results of the year behind us, the highlight was on further improvement of skills of the service members and equipping them with modern automation systems and radars, which fulfilled the highest standards in performing the airspace control tasks, guidance of fighter aviation, directing AD artillery-missile units and providing navigational assistance to aircraft.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Air Defense Command, Colonel Dragan Mrdak, representatives of units of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, local government bodies and institutions the 126th ASEWG Brigade works closely with.
