Live Firing Against Air Targets

Monday, 30.5.2022 | Training
Members of the air defence artillery-missile units, Army, Air Force and Air Defence, conducted live firing against air targets last week.

The firing took place at "Pasuljanske Livade" Training Ground and it involved the use of "Strela-2M" missile system and modernized 40mm "Bofors" anti-aircraft gun. The aim was to examine practically how competent professional members were for a proper combat use of these short-range assets and efficient air target engagement.

The operators and crews managed to hit all intended targets thus demonstrating practically that they were highly competent for destroying and neutralizing air targets at short distances.

Live firing was preceded by thorough individual preparations at primary units, as well as firing practices and tests executed at Military Airfield "Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović" in Batajnica.

Live firing against air targets represents the most important segment of training in air defence units, and the excellent results scored are proof that they are highly competent and combat-ready to provide direct air protection of SAF forces on combat operations.

The live firing at "Pasuljanske livade" was attended by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović and the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković.
