A new class of young men and women who decided to perform voluntary military service — March 2026 intake — was admitted to the Serbian Armed Forces units.
Upon arrival at the basic training centers, in the barracks in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac, the soldiers passed mandatory examinations, were assigned weapons and equipment and were then posted to the units, where the commanders informed them of the rights, obligations and tasks awaiting them.
In the next month and a half, they will be trained at the basic training centers to handle personal weapons, perform basic tactical actions and procedures in combat and perform guard duty, while improving their physical fitness.
This is followed by individual specialist training for the military duties they were recruited for, while the second period of their military service will be spent in the Serbian Armed Forces units, where they will receive collective training and be actively involved in the implementation of regular activities together with the professional staff.
Soldiers willing to join the professional military service can apply for it during their military service, which lasts for six months, after which they will go through the prescribed procedure and meet the requirements to become professional Serbian Armed Forces members immediately after completing their military service.
