Visit to Members of River Flotilla

Today, as part of the regular and planned visits to the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić has visited members of the River Flotilla at the Aleksandar Berić Barracks in Novi Sad, accompanied by Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković.
During the visit, he talked with the unit members about the living and working conditions, as well as the challenges they face, in order to hear their proposals regarding the improvement of the infrastructure, replenishment and implementation of the tasks of that unit. The unit commander Navy Captain Darko Stričić briefed on the purpose and tasks performed by the River Flotilla.
On this occasion, the Minister of Defence recognized members of the River Flotilla, who, with their commitment, effort and enthusiasm, have done a lot to build the capabilities and efficiency of their component in the recent period.
— I have seen that members of the River Flotilla love their uniform, the sign of belonging to the unit; they are dedicated to their flotilla and ready to perform all intended tasks. They are always there for the people, and they have shown this on numerous occasions in situations where it is necessary to make life easier for the population, such as the installation of pontoon bridges. There will be significant investments in the River Flotilla; we will continue to work on improving the standards, creating better working conditions for members of this unit — said Minister Gašić.
The Minister of Defence visited the memorial room of the unit and display of arms and military equipment at the Aleksandar Berić Barracks, as well as the special-purpose ship Kozara, where the history, purpose and characteristics of the ship were presented to him, after which he attended a demonstration of capabilities of the river units, which featured river multi-purpose ships, amphibious and patrol boats, in addition to the Kozara.
The visit was also attended by Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović and Head of the Office of the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Goran Momčilović.
