The ceremony on the occasion of admission of NCOs to professional military service and promotion to the rank of sergeant of the 25th Basic NCO Course has been held at the Guard’s Club in Belgrade today.
108 course participants, who were sent to this six-month training thanks to their work results as professional soldiers, were admitted to professional military service with the rank of sergeant.
The ceremony has been attended by Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, Acting Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Resources Siniša Radović, Deputy Commander of the Training Command Brigadier General Nebojša Cvetković, representatives of the units of the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces, as well as family members and friends of the newly promoted NCOs.
Addressing the newly promoted sergeants, General Janković extended his wishes for a conscientious and responsible performance of all tasks and obligations and contribution to the improvement of the state of affairs in their future units and reputation of the Serbian Armed Forces.
— Try to carry out all assigned tasks responsibly, completely and safely through your dedicated, competent and professional work, and especially by setting a personal example. This is possible only if you continue to work on yourself, improve your skills every day, transfer your knowledge to soldiers and younger colleagues. Learn from the older and more experienced ones, listen to your superiors and be their support and someone they can rely on; be a good colleague, dedicated to the unit; try to be task-oriented and to build good interpersonal relations and solid collectives through your work and behavior - said General Janković.
He has pointed out that it is important that in the environments where they live and work, they should first and foremost be good friends and neighbors, as well as respectable and respected citizens who will, with their attitudes and behavior, promote the military profession in the best possible way and help with building confidence in the Serbian Armed Forces.
- Be proud descendants of your glorious ancestors, aware that they showed us the right way by defending the honor and freedom of our fatherland. Let the bright examples from our history embolden and encourage you to be persistent and unwavering in all situations you will encounter - stressed the Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
After reading the orders on promotion to the rank of sergeant, General Janković presented awards to the best participants in the Basic NCO Course — best Sergeant Aleksandar Ilić, second-best Sergeant Jasmina Kosović and third-best Sergeant Nebojša Ibrahimović.
Addressing the audience on behalf of the participants of the 25th Basic NCO Course, the most successful course participant, Sergeant Ilić, has pointed out that they chose to be worthy of the great country they inherited and its rich history.
— It is through learning that we developed and became stronger, striving to become heroes of our time. Today, for us, this is not just a promotion, but an honor and challenge to continue to train and work further with newly introduced and modernized weapons and equipment and thus contribute to the Serbian Armed Forces becoming stronger and stronger day by day. We have the obligation to be responsible for others already tomorrow, to lead people, to take care of them and return them safely to their families from every task. We will successfully address that task only if we are always better than we were yesterday and if we pursue higher goals - said Sergeant Ilić.
The Basic NCO Course lasts six months, and is attended by selected soldiers who have previously completed the Leadership Course, earning the opportunity to become NCOs of the Serbian Armed Forces through their work and results while performing military roles in their units. During the six-month training, the participants were trained to command a group, a team and a squad; they gained their first experience in performing basic NCO roles, became familiar with the tasks, obligations and organization of work in the squad, and, in this way, they were fully prepared to face the challenges of their new roles as officers of the Serbian Armed Forces.
