This week, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, in collaboration with the Red Cross, local governments and health centres undertook the “Military Doctor in the Village” medical outreach effort in the territory of Aleksinac and Priboj municipalities.

The aim of this programme, which involved the medical teams drawn from the Second Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade, was to strengthen the cooperation and assist the population with difficult access to the healthcare system.

As part of the project, preventive medical checkups were performed in provisional infirmaries in the villages of Sjeverin and Kalafate in the vicinity of Priboj, and in the village of Vitkovac near Aleksinac, and house calls were made to patients with impaired mobility or immobility. Food parcels provided by the Red Cross were also distributed to families.

The “Military Doctor in the Village” project is only one of a number of civil-military cooperation projects carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces throughout the Republic of Serbia, demonstrating that they are always at the service of the citizens, not only to defend the country, but also to assist the most vulnerable groups of people.
