New Generation of Soldiers Begins Military Service

A new generation of young men and women who have opted for voluntary military service has been admitted to the basic training centres of the Serbian Armed Forces today.

Upon arrival at the barracks in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac, the young soldiers of the June intake underwent mandatory medical check-ups, received their weapons and military equipment, and were then assigned to units. There, their commanders introduced them to their rights, duties, and tasks that await them.

Over the next month and a half, in basic training centres the soldiers will be trained in handling personal weapons, performing basic tactical actions and procedures in combat, and carrying out guard duties. At the same time, they will work on improving their physical fitness.

This will be followed by individual specialist training for the military duties for which they were recruited, while the second period of their military service will be spent within the Serbian Armed Forces units. They will be trained to perform collective tasks there and will be actively involved in daily activities alongside professional personnel.

Soldiers interested in joining the professional military service can apply for it while still performing their military service, after which they will undergo the required procedure and meet the conditions to become professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces immediately after completing their military service.
