Training for Participation in UNIFIL

At "South" Base and "Borovac" Training Ground near Bujanovac, the force protection platoon is currently undergoing intensive collective training for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

The training is conducted in the field conditions and it represents one of the segments of months-long preparations that members of this unit, subordinate to the Training Command, go through, so as to be fully trained for performing intended tasks in the peacekeeping operation.

In this training phase, the force protection platoon works in the conditions resembling those in the mission, and the scenarios it follows are fully tailored to the situations it could come across when completing AOR tasks. The curriculum comprises the physical and tactical training contents, keeping the focus on performing the tasks while securing the base, as well as topics from international humanitarian law.

In early December, a tactical exercise will be held so as to evaluate the force protection platoon’s competence and interoperability for participation in UNIFIL.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying the force protection platoon in UNIFIL since 2014. The primary mission of our unit, which is part of the Italian Contingent in Sector "West", is securing the base in which UN forces are located.
