Soldiers performing voluntary military service since December 2023 took the oath at a ceremony held today at the ”Field Marshal Živojin Mišić” Barracks in Valjevo.

Pronouncing the text of the oath, they pledged in front of the flag of the Republic of Serbia to protect and defend the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

The ceremony has been attended by Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević, Commander of the Training Command Major General Željko Petrović, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces units, local government bodies and religious communities, as well as relatives and friends of the young men and women who took the oath.

The youngest soldiers are now expected to continue intensive basic training and, subsequently, to be trained for the duties for which they were recruited and to be actively involved in the life and work of the Serbian Armed Forces units. Many of them, as experience shows, will become professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces after completing their military service and thus have the opportunity to constantly develop and advance professionally.
